Why Your Computer is Slow?
There is nothing more annoying than a slow computer. What's even worse is finding out that you have to pay $30 each for 28 different programs to speed up your slow PC. But the fact is that each of these programs are something else that is added to your computers hard drive and many of them constantly run in the background, adding to the problem.
Startup
If you want to speed up a slow computer try a few things first before spending your hard earned money. Check your startup folder and see what is loading every time you start your computer. The easiest way to do this is to reboot your computer and before opening any programs press the alt, control, and delete buttons at the same time. A window will pop up with tabs to click through and one of those tabs will show you everything that is currently running, and ultimately a cause of your slow computer. You need Systray, but other than that you can remove anything that you don't need to have running in the background the entire time your computer is on.The neat thing about SpeedUpMyPC is that it has an automatic built-in startup manager! So if you find it complicated to manually manage your startup programs, give SpeedupMyPC a test drive and see how easy it is to do.
Hard Drive
Your slow computer may be a result of having too much on your hard drive. Check the capacity of your C drive by opening your windows explorer, clicking on C drive, and looking at the graphic that shows how much of your drive is used. Ultimately it should be less than three quarters of the way full, or should have at least 2 gig of available space. A slow computer can be the result of an overfilled hard drive. You can fix this by adding a second hard drive and moving files to it or by moving files onto a CD.Defrag
You may still have a slow computer after removing files and freeing up space, but this may be because your hard drive is now fragmented. Run the windows defrag program to put things back together so that your computer can find things easily. Defragging your PC should by a weekly task to keep it from getting slow and buggy.Get a Registry Cleaner
If after you have done these things you still have a slow computer, you may want to invest in a solid registry cleaner. Periodic cleaning of your registry can do wonders to computer performance. Our recommended software, SpeedUpMyPC, lets you take it for a test drive free of charge for a free scan. You will then be able to assess potential errors on your computer and if it may be worth registering or not. So go ahead, what do you have to lose?
